Newbie to BB and MRTG. I'm tasked to configure MRTG for BB. Tried few tricks i googled without luck. The below links are the config files
/opt/bb/bb1.9i-btf/ext/bbmrtg.pl : http://pastie.org/private/ufd9ojlt3zqczz0knupw
/opt/bb/mrtg-2.16.2/cfg/mrtg.cfg : http://pastie.org/private/rhdjcigkrbye2ekf19ckdw
can someone please assist me in this ?
Did you add the script to etc/bb-bbexttab ? and restarted the BB client (or BB server if you used the BB server's bb-bbexttab config file) ?
That's where external scripts to be executed by BB are defined.
Below is my bbexttab:
localhost : : bbmrtg.pl
And i have restarted the bb server. I still don't have the MRTG column.
Has anybody encountered such an issue with MRTG ?
Hi, can you folks tell me if there should be a configuration alteration in Apache(httpd.conf for example) to display the MRTG column ?
First things first,
Does MRTG work on it's own? Can you see the MRTG graphs by themselves (not within BB).
If so, have you configured bbmrtg.pl correctly with paths pointing to the proper locations.
also, in the host that you have added the bbmrtg.pl external script, do you see process associated with it when you "ps axuw" (assuming you are on a Linux type host)
Thanks for the hand holding mate. I'm new in this space. On the browser if i do a http://bb-mrtg/cgi-bin/mrtg-rrd.cgi I can see a whole bunch of devices that are poping out graphs. If that answers your question.
Further, this may be the output you were after:
bb 27710 6086 0 May 30 ? 0:01 /opt/bb/bbc1.9i-btf/bin/bbrun -a /opt/bb/bbc1.9i-btf/ext/larrd/larrd.pl
bb 1326 6086 0 Jun 07 ? 0:01 /opt/bb/bb1.9i-btf/bin/bbrun -a /opt/bb/bb1.9i-btf/ext/bbmrtg.pl
bb 1308 6086 0 Jun 07 ? 0:01 /opt/bb/bb1.9i-btf/bin/bbrun -a /opt/bb/bb1.9i-btf/bin/bb-display.sh
As far as i think i have pointed the correct locations in the file. http://pastie.org/private/ufd9ojlt3zqczz0knupw. Do let me know where i should look in here.
Thanks for your time.
in bbmrtg.pl, this doesn't make sense:
# Define location for saved logs. my $SAVEDLOGDIR = 'c:/Program Files/Quest Software/Big Brother/BBNT/logs';this points to a Windows type location while you are running BB on a U*x box. Use the proper locationalso, this value may not be in your BB install Define the path to the Big Brother GIF files.my $GIFSDIR = '/hobbit/gifs';
