Hello. Recently I bought XPS M1530 Laptop. I'm wondering is it possible to upgrade the CPU. Now I have:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5550 (1.83 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache)
And I was thinking about:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9500 (2.60 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 6 MB L2 cache)
Is it possible to do the upgrade? Is T9500 compatible with this mainboard? Does it have the same socket? Or maybe the CPU is solder to the mainboard?
Should be fine as an upgrade.
Assuming you buy the socket P (micro FCPGA) CPU, yes, they're the same. The ball-grid CPUs are the soldered ones and are not used on the M1530.
I know this post is from 9 years ago but for future reference I did this swap. The T9500 runs excellent on the XPS 1530. As most who have this laptop probably already know it runs HOT. As expected the T9500 runs even hotter. Installed 4 gb of ram and a 500gb hdd and running windows 10 smoothly!
