Dell's Disk Monitoring System Warning

When I boot up my Inspiron 8500, I get the following message:

WARNING: Dell's Disk Monitoring System has detected that drive 0 on the primary EIDE controller is operating outside of normal specifications.  It is advisable to immediately back up your data and replace your hard drive by calling your support desk or Dell Computer Corporation.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?  Is the only option to replace the hard drive?

Re: Dell's Disk Monitoring System Warning

Yes take this seriously. Back up the hard drive and replace it. It is telling you the drive is starting to go and when it does it will give no other warning.

Re: Dell's Disk Monitoring System Warning

Thanks.  Everything is backed up already.  I was hoping that there was another solution other than a new hard drive.  Thanks for the advice.
