Bluetooth error code 54

hi! I have an Inspiron 7501 and  i've noticed this error in the bluetooth Device Manager windows : This device has failed and is undergoing a reset. (Code 54). In fact, it happens that my bluetooth mice stop working when this error accurs. Restarting the system solved the problem only temporary. Someone knows a solution?

Thanks.

Just managed to fix the issue (permanently I hope!).

Couldn't find any driver updates through Dell's scans but I found a Bluetooth driver update by searching directly on Intel's website (originally had 22.170.0.2 but found version 22.190.0 which was compatible with my setup).

After installing this and restarting my laptop the Bluetooth button re-appeared in the system tray and my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse re-connected and were working again.

Link to driver update FYI: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18649/intel-wireless-bluetooth-for-windows-10-and-windows-11.html

Hope this helps people!

I just stumbled onto a possible fix for when the Bluetooth adapter stops working...

I noticed the Bluetooth adapter is internally connected via a USB bus, as shown in the device manager if you set the view to "Devices by Connection":
PCI Express Root Complex > intel(R) USB 3.20 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.20 (Microsoft) > USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) > intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)

I suspected the USB hub might be glitching when I dock/undock or change the power state, so I disabled the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) and then re-enabled it.

Bingo! My Bluetooth adapter came back online and my keyboard and mouse instantly reconnected.

I hope this helps others!

Hilariously, the frequency of this increased exponentially since I last posted. Now it only works for a few minutes after restarting

Our XPS 9510 has also gotten significantly worse.  Most times restarting does nothing now.

Having the same problem on my XPS 15. Just started a few weeks ago and seems to be getting worse. I tried uninstalling the Intel Bluetooth and reinstalling, but this did not help. Hopefully we get some answers soon.

I am having the same problem with my Dell XPS 15 9510 that is just a little more than a year old. I can not use any bluetooth devices with the laptop, (mouse, headset, speaker, etc.) and in the windows device manager when selecting properties it says: "This device has failed and is undergoing a reset. (Code 54)" as device status. Hopefully Dell support can help find a solution, or fix it in a driver update.

I am having the same issue with my Dell Precision M5550. I am constantly getting "This device has failed and is undergoing a reset. (Code 54)"  error on Intel Wireless Bluetooth adapter. Sometimes a reboot solves the issue for several minutes but after several minutes of use the device stops working. I hope this is a software issue and can be solved with a new driver update.

I've had some success with the last round of Dell updates.  So far it seems to have alleviated the issue.

Hopefully that doesn't jinx it!

I am having this issue also, everything appears to be up to date but devices aren't working and error code 54 showing on Bluetooth device - Dell XPS 9510. Restarting not solving anything for me, not found a solution yet.
