Wireless MiniPCI for C610

  • Dear folks,

I have Latitude C610, three weeks ago I upgrade the memory to 512MB. when I opened the case to install the memory, I saw the MiniPCI slot for Wireless LAN. If I want to upgrade my C610 with wireless LAN, are Dell provide MiniPCI wireless card that support A/B/G type wireless LAN? Where I can get it?

    Thanks,
    soeharwinto
  • From Dell, http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productlisting.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=04&category_id=5823

But I would skip the a/b/g type card as the antenna in the C610 will not work with the A band and just get the Dell Wireless 1350, b/g, MiniPCI card. It works well. I have one in my C610.

  • Go to buy.com and search for: 2200bg

you will pay around 30... great upgrade for your computer.. have one in mine!
  • Thank you folks, I am very appreciate it. Now I don't have to worry about the connection via WLAN with my C610.

Would the newer 5300 (430-3182) work?

  • $45.99 for something that you can pay $15 for on eBay???

    I don't think so. I'd buy this instead.  http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Pro-Wireless-G-2200BG-2200-MINI-PCI-802-11g-Card_W0QQitemZ290388873501QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439c86911d

I bought a miniPCI card Intel 2200 for my Latitude 110L, and it works beautifully.

    my Dells:
    Precision M6300 - XP SP3 / Windows 7 / Ubuntu 12.04
    Latitude D620 - XP Pro SP3
    Precision M6300 - Windows 7

  • But I need 812.11N

  • I was wrong. Dell is selling that card for $79.99

That 802.11n Dell card is made by Intel, so if you search on eBay for Intel 5300, you'll see many being offered for sale. Just make sure you buy one that works in a Dell.

If it was me, I'd pay $22 for one from the seller in Hong Kong. There are also some sellers selling it from the USA.

    my Dells:
    Precision M6300 - XP SP3 / Windows 7 / Ubuntu 12.04
    Latitude D620 - XP Pro SP3
    Precision M6300 - Windows 7

  • Thanks for the help but I think I am out of luck.  The pin configuration is different.  The socket in the C610 has one pin on one section and about 50 on the other.  The 5300 has 8 and 18.  I doubt anyone makes one that will work.
