Web Chat on Virtualizing SQL Server
I hosted yesterday's Tech Tuesday chat which was about virtualizing SQL Server 2005. A lot of the time was spent discussing this whitepaper - so you may want to check out the transcript:

RE: Web Chat on Virtualizing SQL Server
Two thumbs up!
Curious to know how many threads you used to get to 80% CPU util?
Also, I wonder what was your limiting factor, RAM or I/O?

RE: Web Chat on Virtualizing SQL Server
In order to drive the VMs to 80% I used 9, 14, and 30 threads for the 1vCPU, 2vCPU, and 4vCPU tests respectively. This is threads from the DVD Store driver program for sql server.
The limiting factor was CPU. Disk I/O would continue to scale as CPU utilization went over 80% - producing more orders per minute.
These were good questions. Anybody have more?
Todd
