Also this new R710 is for win2k8 R2 file & print server. Can we we install and esxi 4.0 and than create 2 Virtual machines for file & print server and 1 more citrix server.....will my new R710 is capabale and can handle the load.

RE: How to install esxi 4.0 Update 1 on Dell PE 710 R
The ESXi 4 U1 installable bits are located here - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz&releaseid=R248901&SystemID=PWE_R710&servicetag=&os=EIx4&osl=en&deviceid=22094&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=47&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=364093
I know that's a nasty URL, but it should copy and paste just fine. That's an ISO image. Simply burn it and boot the system off the CD to install. If you purchased the R710 with the embedded version there is also a download for that (the one on the internal USB drive) .. simply drill down from http://support.dell.com to locate that version.
Depends on how much memory and what exact workload will be on the VM's, but I'm very comfortable saying that you should have no problems with 3 VMs on this machine. Unless you tell me that your trying to host 500,000 active citrix connections :-)

RE: How to install esxi 4.0 Update 1 on Dell PE 710 R
Hi Scott,
The link was very helpful and i am up with esxi on Dell 710R and i am to connect to esxi server with IP address from my client PC.
But now to create and configure VM do we need vsphere client??? i was trying with vmware GO which seems to be easy tool but it ask IP address and vmware host name... i dont know whats the default name of that vmware host server.
Whats the easist way to create and configure VM once esxi hypervisor is installed properly???

Hi scott,
I got what i wanted and i am up through vsphere client and created 2 virtual machines... but while installing 64 bit OS win2k8 R2 gets errors CPU is not compatible with 64 bit.
I think i need to change some cpu settings ????

Yes, enable Intel VT in your BIOS settings and you're good to go with 64-bit VMs.
