I have three Precision 3510 using the WD15 docking stations.
We are using BitLocker Encryption on these machines.
When the user is prompted to type in the BitLocker Key, they are unable to use the keyboard and mouse. The user has to open the lid on the laptop type in the key on the laptop, then close it again.
Meanwhile, the video is still working correctly.
It's as if it's not recognizing the USBs.
I have run the BIOS update and Firmware update and all the other updates that were needed. Otherwise, it is functioning correctly, it's just at BitLocker.
We have the same problem here with regular windows domain login, cannot use an external keyboard connected to docking before actual login. It seems like its how its supposed to work
Same issue in our domain: Latitude 5480, Windows 10, Bitlocker enabled. Doesn't allow the user to log in without entering the Bitlocker key every time. Updated to the latest BIOS, chipset and video drivers as well as the correct WD-15 driver. Anyone else seeing this?? Very frustrating.
How is your Bitlocker configured (PCR)? Do you have HDD as first boot option?
We're having the same issue.
All 5480 laptops will not boot after Bitlocker encrypts the drive if the WD15 is plugged in.
If you unplug the the WD15, it boots fine.
If you suspend BL, plug dock in and reboot, it boots fine one time. On the first restart, it trips BL if you boot WITHOUT the dock. This flip/flops every time you suspend BL and reboot. It will only boot in the same mode it shuts down in; either plugged-in or unplugged.
All drivers are updated, firmware is updated, and the only boot device enabled in BIOS is the M.2 drive. This happens on every 5480 we've tested.
We're seeing similar behavior with the WD15 dock when used with 7370 and 5580 laptops as well.
The initial power on when connected to the WD15 basically always prompts for Bitlocker recover. If you power off and then back on, it boots normally.
Restarting while connected to the WD15 boots normally as well. Seems to only be the initial power-on while connected to the WD15. It will prompt for BL again if you shutdown windows 10 and power on while connected.
I saw a note on the 5580 1.6.4 BIOS that:
Fixes:- Fixed a Bitlocker recovery issue when Dell Thunderbolt Dock is connected to the system, and PCR1 is selected in the Bitlocker Group Policy.- Fixed a Bitlocker recovery issue when Dell Type C Dock or Dongle is connected to the system, and PCR2 is selected in the Bitlocker Group Policy.
However, there has been no improvement after applying the 1.6.4. BIOS on the 5580.
