  • Where can I get the latest SBUU in an ISO. I know its on the Dell CD but not a standalone utility. I want to be able to launch the SBUU from a "virtual media" share on my network.

Can I download the SBUU *.iso somewhere?
  • I'm going to start with the assumption that you want to do server updates and not build a machine, correct me if I'm wrong.

You can get the SUU - Server Update Utility - here --> http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&deviceid=16823&libid=36&releaseid=R203410&vercnt=5&formatcnt=0&SystemID=PWE_2950&servicetag=&os=WNET&osl=en&catid=-1&impid=-1

That is a 1.8GB DVD that has ALL the server updates.

There is another way, you could use Content Manager (See demo here --> http://www.delltechcenter.com/page/OpenManage+Demos - "Using Server Update Utility with Content Manager). Content Manager is located on the SMTD DVD (Systems Management Tools and Documentation) --> http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&deviceid=17861&libid=36&releaseid=R200230&vercnt=2&formatcnt=0&SystemID=PWE_2950&servicetag=&os=WNET&osl=en&catid=-1&impid=-1

But that's a 3.6GB download, which would not make much sense just to get one little piece you are looking for :-) .... so better to get it from the ftp site --> ftp://ftp.dell.com/contentmanager/

Content Manager is nice because you can create a repository that replicates the ftp.dell.com site with just the machines that you have in your environment. It also downloads SUU as part of the process so you can run it from a network share. Watch the demo and it will be very clear.

If you really want SBUU (Systems Build and Update Utility) it is part of the SMTD DVD iso referenced above, so you'll need to download that package.

I know, confusing .... this blog post I wrote should help --> http://www.delltechcenter.com/page/2%2F8%2F2008+-+OpenManage+Download+-+Comments

    Hope that helps.
