problem with backup exec 10d not seeing pv124t with new 160 scsi card
I recently replaced a scsi card on my pe2850 connected to pv124t from perc controller to scsi card 39160 ultra 160 scsi. After this change the back up exec would not recognize the tape drive and giving me this error “physical volume library robot not found” I did the device configuration wizard then restarted all services and still have the same error. The device manager sees the new ultra 160 card with no problem. Any suggestion out there?

RE: problem with backup exec 10d not seeing pv124t with new 160 scsi card
Are the devices seen in the Scsi controller bios?
What OS are you running?
If Windows 2008
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/stor-sys/matrix/PVMatrix/isvwindo.htm
NOTE: The PV124 VS160 has a known issue with Windows 2008 OS when connected to a controller card using StorPort drivers. The medium changer will not be seen in device manager, therefore the robot is not properly discovered or displayed. Therefore, this is an unsupported configuration, but as a workaround SCSIPort drivers may be used The user may also manually move media into the drive via the PV124T Remote Management Unit or Operator Control Panel, or connect the PV124T to a Windows 2003 Server. This is documented in Microsoft knowledge base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967736.

So device manager sees the drive and medium changer?
only backup exec does not. you may need to run the diver pack again (tapeinst.exe)
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/downloads.jsp?pid=15047&type=Driver
you will need your version of 10d service pack.

RE: problem with backup exec 10d not seeing pv124t with new 160 scsi card
I ran the driver pack again and reboot still didn't show up. Someone recommended shutting off the autoloader for at least 20 seconds then reboot the server and somehow this did the trick. The backup exec now recognizes the drive and slots and we're back in business.
Thank you very much for taking the time to help me on this issue.
