Data Protection and Storage availablity
Hi, I wanted to clarify when 2 disks failed in a same RAID Group which is configured in RAID 5 what would happen to the data and storage? Hotspare also configured on that array.
Thank in advance

RE: Data Protection and Storage availablity
Which array are we talking about? Generally Raid 5 protects against 1 drive failing. If you had 2 disks fail at the same time in the array, essentially the data would be lost. With 2 disks failed the array would be offline and the hotspare would have nothing to rebuild from. Now what I have been able to do in the past is go through the logs (Open Manage) and try to see which drive failed first. Then take the 2nd drive to fail and force it back online and start a rebuild with the hotspare on the 1st drive to fail. But I would need more information before I would suggest you do something like that.
