MD3000i with Non Dell Disks
I need to know how to use non dell disks that are the supported types for my MD3000i and MD1000. These disks are for backup purposes and I do not need to spend 3X with dell for this purpose. How do you flash them to get them to be supported by the MD?

RE: MD3000i with Non Dell Disks
All the research I've seen shows Dell disks are the only supported configuration. You might try the break/fix forum on the Dell community site with your question, although I don't have much confidence you'll see a different answer:

Good luck!

RE: MD3000i with Non Dell Disks
Contrary to just about every thread you will find on this subject, it is actually possible to do - i have witnessed this performed somewhere. You would need 2x MD3000i units, and one of them must be the original "first generation" firmware to pull this off. I have only seen this work with one specific model of disk, and that was a disk from the compatible drives list in the manual.
That said though, and i can not stress this enough - just don't do it. If it's a production unit and the data and warranty is important to you, get proper Dell certified and supplied disks.
