Need Technical information on Quest Site Administrator for SharePoint

This question has been answered by grigory vasiliev

Before we are allowed (due to company policy) to install Quest Site Administrator for SharePoint 5.0 in our Production infrastructure, we need to have following technical/infrastructure information:

- Product Building blocks and/or technologies (Tomcat Vx.y, ...)

- Protocols used by product

- Ports used by product

- Connections to what SharePoint components

- Authentication mechanisms

- Other relevant technical information

Can you provide me that information? Or where can I find it? I've been searching but I can't find it.

Kind Regards,

Kristof.

  • For on-premises part:

    Please read this:

    http://sahelp.sharepointforall.com/IP_how_it_works.html

Main protocol used by reports: TSQL - we read info from content databases.

We use HTTP to communicate between product components.

We call also Active Directory for several reports - we use LDAP there (activity dashboard, daily usage report)

And we request disk free space by WMI from SharePoint servers (servers report)

To apply modifications in SharePoint sites we use SharePoint Object Model

Windows scheduled tasks is used for policies and for CSV and SQL export

We use Apache NTLM module to authenticate user and then authorize access to requested report.

We support  Claims-based + Windows Authentication web applications

Current version (5.1) does not have reporting database (we display live info). But it is possible to export reporting information to SQL.

For extensions we support REST API

Online version and Security Explorer is different story.
