Just had an interview with long-time friend of SharePoint, Caroline Marwitz over at SharePointPro magazine
(Caroline did a fantastic job making me sound more knowledgeable.) SharePoint 2013 has a lot of new functions for metadata - especially Managed Navigation and the catalog.
For Dell, we're working on even more ways to use metadata in SharePoint. Beyond search, you'll be able to use it for content and storage management policies.
And we're working on more capabiltieis to allow metadata to drive SharePoint management policies. For example, you might introduce a policy that any content tagged as "SENSITIVE" can never be moved out to long term archive storage with our Storage Maximizer product. (See our video for more details.)
