oem-audio-hda-daily DKMS module build failure with recent kernels

  • make.log

Recent Ubuntu 16.04 kernel updates on my XPS 13 9360 have been giving an error when it rebuilds the oem-audio-hda-daily DKMS module:

    run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/dkms 4.4.0-89-generic /boot/vmlinuz-4.4.0-89-generic

    Consult /var/lib/dkms/oem-audio-hda-daily/0.201612080732~ubuntu16.04.1/build/make.log for more information.

The make.log it mentions is attached to this post. When I run "dkms status" it only lists oem-audio-hda-daily once:

    oem-audio-hda-daily, 0.201612080732~ubuntu16.04.1, 4.4.0-81-generic, x86_64: installed

I guess that means it hasn't successfully built the module since the 4.4.0-81-generic release (4.4.0-89-generic is the current kernel).  There is another user here (https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2366756) with what seems like a similar problem so I may not be the only one affected.

  • Hi,

I've seen similar issue. Output of my 'dkms status'

  • I notice today that a new version of oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms has been pushed to the Dell repo (version 0.201708030416~ubuntu16.04.1) and that seems to build and install fine.  I guess the right people saw this post and fixed it :-)
