Your choice of third-party operating systems, virtualization and monitoring software
Enable business agility and avoid vendor lock-in with third-party OS and software options, including:
Pluribus Networks Open Netvisor Linux (ONVL) is based on a Virtualization-Centric Fabric architecture with a distributed controller based on proven cluster technology. Dell Open Networking (ON) Ethernet Switches powered by Pluribus ONVL federate into a fabric, offering enhanced insight, agility and security of virtualized computing and storage
Cumulus Linux is a full-featured networking operating system that enables you to build a modern, scalable and cost-effective data center. Combined with Dell’s open-networking switches, this disaggregated solution offers enhanced manageability, clustering, monitoring and orchestration – many of the same benefits found in virtualized-server environments. Cumulus OS leverages a large ecosystem of native Linux applications and automation tools, allowing you to adopt innovations and add agility to your data center. Now you can deploy next-generation workloads on feature-rich solutions built on large-scale Clos fabrics and new data-center architectures.
Big Switch Networks Switch Light OS
Switch Light™ OS1 is an SDN operating system that is ideal for building next-generation data-center fabrics. Based on Open Network Linux (ONL), the open-source Linux operating system, Switch Light OS brings modern server or compute models to the network and allows you to adopt a disaggregated-software/hardware solution. It provides powerful automation capabilities that can significantly reduce your operating costs. Switch Light OS uses ONIE to install onto on-board flash memory and includes standard ONL features such as:
Big Switch Networks Big Tap Monitoring Fabric
Big Tap™ Monitoring Fabric1 is an innovative network monitoring solution that allows you to tap traffic anywhere in the network and deliver it to troubleshooting, network monitoring, application-performance monitoring or security tools. It offers a practical, cost-effective entry point for SDN and provides optimal visibility and scalability. At the core of the Big Tap Monitoring Fabric is the Big Tap Controller. This software compiles user-defined policies into optimized flows that are programmed into the forwarding ASICs of "non-OS" switches running the Switch Light™ OS.
VMware NSX provides a complete suite of simplified logical networking elements and services, including logical switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, monitoring and security. These services are provisioned in virtual networks through any cloud management platform leveraging the NSX APIs and can be arranged in any topology with isolation and multi-tenancy. Virtual networks are deployed non-disruptively over any existing network and on any hypervisor.
Midokura Enterprise MidoNet is a software-based, highly scalable and resilient, network virtualization system for OpenStack and Neutron compatible environments. With its distributed architecture it enables enterprises and service providers to build, run and manage virtual networks with increased control, security and flexibility. Using industry standards and by leveraging existing physical infrastructure, MidoNet reduces costs and improves stability, scalability and performance of networks.
IP Infusion OcNOS™
IP Infusion is a leading provider of intelligent network software for telecom and data communications services. The company recently announced its OcNOS™, the first, full-featured network operating system for data center and enterprise networking, including advanced capabilities such as extensive protocol support for multiprotocol label switching (MPLS). OcNOS brings the power of the Open Compute Project, an open hardware movement and foundation, to data networking to reduce operational complexity.
The Pluribus Networks Netvisor distributed fabric, built on top of an open, standards-based L2/IP network, permits a Dell ON leaf-spine deployment to be managed, automated and programmed as a single node with associated operational advantages. The Netvisor fabric brings together effectively the ease of management of a centralized controller architecture, with the scalability and high availability properties of a fully distributed controller-free, architecture with no single point of failure.
