Dell's Dr. Glen Otero wraps up the SciPy conference with detailed blog post & useful links from the recent SciPy Conference, held at UT Austin's AT&T Conference Center last week and was, IMHO, a big success.Link to Blog
06-23-2010Python is a great language that has so many available libraries and packages, including several for bioinformatics. However, anyone that has spent any time installing SciPy, Numpy and other libraries knows that compiling ATLAS and other libraries can be needlessly complicated and frustrating. If there were only a Python distribution that came with all of those pre-built libraries and others, like matplotlib, for Linux, OS X and Windows...Link to BlogGlen - the BioBrew Master

Often it takes a very long time, if ever, for good science to be recognized. Unfortunately, bad science often burns incandescent in the media and can't be extinguished. Cooler heads rarely prevail in the short term and thanks to hubris, scientific illiteracy, and bureaucracy, the self-correcting scientific method can take years to right wrongs. Case in point, the story I'm about to relate to you.Link to BlogGlen - the BioBrew Master
11/12/2009The Supercomputing 2009 conference (11/14/-11/20/2009) is highlighting bio-computing as a special thrust area. Which means that the application of the latest networking, storage and compute technologies to bioscience problems will be featured all week long in Portland. There will be workshops, plenary speakers, posters and technical sessions that concentrate on the many facets of bio-computing. Link to BlogGlen - the BioBrew Master
