To demonstrate the power of the 10th Generation blades for rapid application development, I built a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack on one blade using Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 5.
I first installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 along with Apache 2, PHP5, and MySQL 5 from the RHEL5-Server-20070208.0-x86_64-DVD.iso.
I then configured the components so they would talk to each other and then installed the medium-size (1 GB) MySQL database from the DVD Store test application, an open source database test tool available at
linux.dell.com/dvdstore

The whole setup takes an hour or two to complete. Upon completion, one can surf the DVD Store with any Web browser and start browsing for and purchasing DVDs (with interesting titles and actors!) as shown in the next few screen shots:
