This paper provides a highly resilient Microsoft® Exchange 2013 storage solution for up to 12,500 mailboxes using the validated design described in this study. The solution includes a single Data Availability Group (DAG), and three copies of each database spanning two sites. Dell PowerEdge R730xd servers each connected to a Dell Storage MD1400 are used as the mailbox servers for the Exchange mailbox databases. The tested environment simulates up to 12,500 users with a mailbox profile of 5GB and 150 messages per day, or 0.121 IOPS for every user, including 20 percent headroom.
