Provide a highly resilient Microsoft® Exchange 2013 storage solution for up to 12,000 mailboxes using the validated design described in this study. The solution includes a single Data Availability Group (DAG), and three copies of each database spanning two sites. Dell PowerEdge R720xd servers each attached to two Dell PowerVault MD1200 enclosures are used as the mailbox servers, with Dell PowerVault MD1200 configured as the external storage array that for the Exchange mailbox databases. The tested environment simulates up to 12,000 users with a mailbox profile of 5GB and 150 messages per day, or 0.121 IOPS for every user, including 20 percent headroom.
