Hi

I need to upgrade our MD3000i from firmware 06.70.17.60 to 07.xx to fix a couple of bugs and generally get us up to date. Have any of you been through this process and do I (somehow) need to make sure I have a backup of the entire SAN before I do it? I am at a loss as to how I'm supposed to take down the 20 VM's on the SAN (VMware ESX environment) and backup over 9Tb of data!

Appreciate any help you can offer me with this!

I did a little asking around and got this comment back:
"This is a rare off-line upgrade because the meta-data on the disks is changed for the new firmware. In fact a special upgrade utility is used (loaded when you install the new version of MDSM) to perform the upgrade. I would strongly encourage a backup before performing the upgrade. My thoughts on how to back it up would beg the question “how are you performing your regular backup?”"
