The Dell Command | Update Catalog automates the patch process of system updates for Dell workstations in a Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager environment. The catalog file contain detailed information to determine which updates are required for Dell workstations, and how to apply them. It can be used in conjunction with the software update management functionality of Microsoft ConfigMgr (and update deployment process in SCE) to provide automated BIOS, firmware, driver, and Dell application updates.
It is a part of the Dell Client Command Suite of tools.
The whitepaper on integrating with SCCM and SCUP is available here
Note: The OpenManage Inventory Agent (DSIA) is not posted to the Dell Support site anymore. You can find it in the catalog, or here is the download for the 18.104.22.168 version.
Extend your Hardware inventory with the DSIA_SMS_DEF.mof here.
Dell also have a Server catalog as well.
Please update the catalog to include drivers for ALL Latitude models. The OMIA already installs on them so it appears possible to determine which ones are required.
Anyone managed to get this to work with SCCM 2012 R2 7958 and Win 7? I don't think it is a SCCM issue, but the DSIA 1.4.7 agent doesn't seem to be updating/detecting the client devices. Documentation is old. The catalog is just a mess, full of drivers that are old. You have to be very careful and pick the correct driver update as it is detected on WMI Queries SELECT * FROM Dell_SoftwareIdentity. I have tried older DSIA agents and even rebuilding wmi repository. Might be time to talk to my Dell Account Manager I think.
