Shaking Things Up with ASM 8.0

This week at Dell World is particularly exciting, coming on the heels of Dell’s one-year anniversary as a once-again private company. And today at Dell World we announced the launch of Active System Manager 8.0 with an enriched feature set, simplified installation, and support for Dell 13th generation PowerEdge servers.

But in addition to the exciting new features, this release heralds a major shift in ASM’s pricing strategy, and a continuation of Dell’s efforts to support the adoption of open, extensible solutions that serve our customers and move the IT industry forward.

Radically New Pricing

To enable clear differentiation for Dell, and accelerate the adoption of automation and the move toward converged management, we are dramatically lowering the price of ASM and introducing a radically simple pricing approach. The goal of this new pricing strategy is to give more customers access to the unified management and automation capabilities of ASM and enable them to manage their IT infrastructure and workloads more holistically and more efficiently.

With the new ASM 8.0 release, we are introducing a simplified pricing scheme that includes the product license, software updates, and technical support all for one simple, low-cost, annual subscription fee of $165 per device, a reduction of nearly 90% compared to the current list price!

This approach will make ASM a leader in delivering the highest value and lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) automation software available in the market today. This is a disruptive move in the industry that delivers significantly better TCO to customers as compared to competitive solutions. This also enables a much larger set of our customers to benefit from the value of automation.

We are extremely excited about the opportunity to move the ball forward by making ASM widely available to more and more customers. As Michael Dell recently said, we are playing to win and having fun doing it!
