One of the common needs of a cloud platform is to scale resources as compute and storage needs expand. Over time there is often a need to add additional compute resources, as the required Virtual Machine (VM) growth has exceeded planned capacity, or to remove or repurpose nodes.  Likewise, storage resources must expand or contract to match demand. Compute nodes are used for hosting VMs, and storage nodes are used for hosting Red Hat Ceph Storage 2, which manages block, image, and ephemeral storage in the Red Hat OpenStack Platform.

This technical guide explains the process of adding or removing a Dell PowerEdge compute or storage node in an existing cluster in the Dell EMC Ready Bundle for Red Hat OpenStack Platform Release 10.0.
