Best Practices When Deploying Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 on Dell PowerEdge Servers

  • Hello,

I got a pdf about HP's "best practices When Deploying Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 on HP ProLiant DL980 G7 Servers". http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02577023/c02577023.pdf

Does dell have the similar best practices for poweredge servers?

  • Hi A.W - thanks for leaving a comment in our forums:

The following links contain OS Deployment guides that are comparable to the documents you referenced before:

Additional Dell related OS Documentation can be found at:

  • thanks, but it is manual, not best practices. I just want to know how to configure the BIOS when installing windows 2008 r2 or EXSi or hyper-v

  • A.W.:

Dell's whitepaper on configuring low-latency environments on Dell PE servers is located here - en.community.dell.com/.../low-latency.aspx

You can download the whitepaper on the bottom of the wikipage.

BIOS settings can vary depending on your OS (VT setting for 64-bit guest OSes), applications (NUMA aware, multi-threaded/single-threaded) and your requirements i.e. power consumption or max performance (P-states). Our HPC and OS/Application sections contain whitepapers with settings for specific workloads on OSes as well.

  • than you very much.
