Dell's Boot Camp kicked off at VMware PEX 2013 today. Dell hosted a session entitled Leveraging Dell Enterprise Technologies to Enhance Customer Value from the Data Center to the Desktop. The boot camp was broken in multiple sections providing our channel partners:

1. A clear vision for how Dell’s Active Infrastructure can be utilized to quickly and efficiently assist your customers in deploying data center infrastructure.
2. A deeper understanding of the latest Dell and VMware desktop virtualization solution architectures, including easily implemented and managed end-to-end VDI solutions.
3. The opportunity to learn about and enhance your revenue with Dell Software’s Data Protection & Performance Management Portfolio in a VMware environment.

The session took place in front of a packed room. The knowledge was flowing and Dell empowerment was in effect.

In the morning, I attended the End User Computing (EUC) Advanced Express Tech Boot Camp. It covered the VMware Horizon Suite. The EUC boot camp and its speakers were excellent. The speakers knew their IT and their expertise really shone when they answered channel partner questions. It was a two-way conversation with real world implications and insights. The key takeaways that I can share are:

  1. Horizon is a platform. Translation: it may not do what you want today but just wait for it, it could be legendary.
  2. As you scale Horizon Workspace, adding VAs will be key. The user guide provides the command lines to add VAs and VMware provides scaling insights.

The Solutions Expo opens this evening with a welcome reception. Be sure to stop by Dell Booth #514 to talk to our SMEs.
