Here at Dell TechCenter it comes as no surprise that we value the contributions of our users. To show just how much, we are launching the “Featured Contributor” program. In this program we will look into the contributions that our members have made to the TechCenter community. Think of this as just another way we are saying thank you to our over 10,000 members. I think the person that we have chosen for our first contributor really exemplifies what we are we looking for.
Without further ado, the first “Featured Contributor” of Dell TechCenter is Andreas Erson.
Andreas is also one of the first members of our Dell TechCenter Rockstars program. One of the main reasons Andreas was chosen was of his participation in the forums answering other community member’s questions. He even took it one step further and went and found an old wiki on the subject and updated it with current information. This is what we need to keep Dell TechCenter as the go to place for our customers with questions. So thank you and congratulations to Andreas!
Another benefit to this program is that we get to find out a little more about our members through a little Q&A. Here are the questions we asked Andreas and his answers:
(Dell TechCenter) What is your role and company?
(Andreas Erson) I’m the IT Engineer for small ISV based in Sweden. We’re a major player in the Nordic countries for software that handles accounts receivable, factoring, invoice purchase, and bad debt collection. My main responsibilities is to plan, purchase, install, administer and manage all internal IT hardware and software as well as to provide expertise when helping customers to select hardware and software suitable for our software.
(Dell TechCenter) What are your biggest IT challenges on a day to day basis?
(Andreas Erson) By far my biggest challenge regarding IT is time. I’m sure this is a problem for every small business with an IT department of one. I know the software, I especially know the hardware but I don’t have the time to manage and optimize it the way it should be done.
(Dell TechCenter) What aspects about Dell TechCenter do you find helpful in your role?
(Andreas Erson) When I found Dell TechCenter a couple of years ago I wanted to expand my knowledge since we’re a Dell shop. I first found the weekly TechChat and that is still my favorite thing about Dell TechCenter. Dell TechCenter gives me the chance to talk directly to the experts and engineers at Dell and fellow enthusiasts about Dell hardware and software. Aside from the TechChat, I enjoy the massive amount of information that Dell TechCenter contain. If there is something I need to delve deeper into I always search for it on Dell TechCenter since that is the best way to find the more technical resources regarding Dell hardware and software.
(Dell TechCenter) What would you like to see at Dell TechCenter in terms of improvements to interface or types of content?
(Andreas Erson) I think the new website is a major improvement and the recent switch to Adobe Connect has brought a new dimension to the TechChat. I’m looking forward to reading more customer created content in articles and in the wikis. Being a resolution and monitor junkie I feel the fixed page width is somewhat limiting but I guess you have to give up something to integrate into the Dell website umbrella.
(Dell TechCenter) Why would you recommend Dell TechCenter to colleagues and your network?
(Andreas Erson) I’m a fierce advocate of Dell TechCenter among colleagues and customers. Dell TechCenter is _the_ way to get knee deep in Dell Enterprise hardware and software. Come for the knowledge, stay for the community.
We want to thank Andreas for taking the time to answer these questions and also for helping in making Dell TechCenter the “go-to” resource for our customers.
