SUSE on Feb 28th, 2012, announced the general availability of SUSE® Linux Enterprise 11 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP2 introduces Linux Kernel 3.0, which is the successor of the Linux kernel 2.6 series. SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP2 includes support for new hardware (including but not limited to, Intel Xeon E5 series processors, BCM5720, BCM57800/10, Dell PERC 8 RAID Controllers), driver updates and bug fixes, refer to SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP2 release notes for more info.
SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP2 introduces consistent NIC naming feature (biosdevname), an optional convention for naming network interfaces (refer to the document for more information).
SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP2 has Dell systems management OpenManage (OM) 7.0 support and is offered on all the supported Dell PowerEdge Servers.
Dell Linux engineering team with SUSE has ensured SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP2 is certified and supported on the new Dell 12th generation servers.
