VMworld 2011 is in full swing in Las Vegas this year and the Dell TechCenter crew is in full force. We all made it out to cover this event from a social media & training perspective along with other teams at Dell. Since DellTechCenter.com is a technical resource for Dell customers, it is critical that we stay on top of the latest trends and offerings in the virtualization space. In addition to representing Dell in social media at the event, we are attending sessions, hands on labs as well as talking with customers in the Dell booth.

The week kicked off on Sunday at a vodgeball event that raises money for a worthy charity, The Wounded Warrior Project. The Dell TechCenter and storage team combined to form a powerhouse of a team decked out in black. We didn't win the event but it was great to know that a good amount of money was raised for a great cause. There are many service men and women that return home from battle injured and this organization helps them in many ways and let's them know that the sacrifice they made will not be forgotten.

In preparation for VMworld, all of us on the DTC team kept hearing from fellow team member Kong Yang ( @KongYang ) to register and pick up our badges on Sunday. Was he ever right. The lines were't too bad Sunday and they were significantly longer on Monday morning. Fortunately, we all had our badges and were ready to go.

Monday morning we met with the core team at the Dell booth to go over last minute details and it was exciting to see how Dell is approaching the booth this year. It is setup with solution based pods covering topics such as Cloud Services to Desktop Virtualization Solutions. The focus is to find out what the customer is looking to address and we guide them towards the solution that fits that need. This approach is consistent with what Dell is doing as a company and has been resonating with customers.

If you are at VMworld, be sure to stop by the Dell booth #901 and follow the Dell TechCenter crew at @DellTechCenter or individually at @Lee4Dell, @KongYang, @SuperTsai, @WarrenAtDell, @DennisMSmith, @iSCSiKing, @JeffSullivan.
