A virtualization solution, such as Oracle VM, provides high availability, scalability, simplification and standardization of the deployment process for Oracle Applications. To leverage these benefits, an existing Oracle Applications system needs to be virtualized. With the support of Oracle engineers, Kai Yu from Dell Oracle Solutions Engineering worked with John Tao in Dell IT Oracle Applications DBA team to design and implement the systematic method to virtualize Oracle Applications E-Business Suite by migrating from physical servers to Oracle virtual machines. This work allows creating the virtual machine templates based on the customer specific Oracle Applications systems and using these virtual machine templates for deployment of new Oracle application environments. This deployment method replaces the traditional cloning-based Oracle Applications instance creation method with Oracle Applications virtual machine template based deployment. This new deployment has simplified and standardized Oracle Applications thus saving customers time and money.
