I see that many users are having problems making Windows 8 Recovery Media with the Dell DataSafe Program on Windows 8. e.g.

Unable to Create System Recovery Media

In all cases I recommend using a USB flash Stick opposed to a DVD as  there are often DVD burning problems which lead to corrupt media. Here are some tips that have worked for many users:

1. Ensure Windows is fully updated:

See Step 16: Visit Windows Update of A Clean Install of Windows 8 in Windows Reinstalaltion Guide and Related wikies.

2. Download the latest Dell DataSafe Local Backup:

3. Uninstall McAfee and run the McAfee Removal Tool:

4. Temporary disable Bluetooth/Wireless on laptops using the wireless switch (Fn & F2) combination.

Retry creating recovery media.
