My browser won't open

  • For some reason I can't access the Internet as my browser won't open on my vostro laptop. It opens in safe mode but normal mode. Can anyone make recommendations to fix this issue? Any help gratefully received. Ferdy
  • Hi Ferdy,

Since when you are facing this issue?
Do you get any error message when you open Internet Explorer?
May I know the operating system installed on your computer?

Since it works in Safe Mode, you may try the following steps.

    Reset the Internet Explorer settings:

    • Close any ‘Internet Explorer’ or ‘Windows Explorer’ windows that are currently open
    • Open ‘Internet Explorer’
    • Click the ‘Tools’ button,
    • Click ‘Internet Options’
    • Click the ‘Advanced’ tab, and then click ‘Reset’
    • Select the ‘Delete personal settings’ check box if you would like to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, and InPrivate Filtering data
    • In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click ‘Reset’
    • When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, click ‘Close’
    • Click ‘OK’
    • Reopen ‘Internet Explorer’ and check

Alternatively, you may perform System restore. Here are the steps:

    • Click on 'Start'
    • Click on 'All Programs' then click 'Accessories'
    • Click on 'System Tools'
    • Click on the 'System Restore'
    • Then click 'Next' on the "Restore system files and settings" window
    • Then choose the restore point that you want to use(choose a date when the system was working good)
    • After that click 'next' to continue
    • Then click 'Finish' on the "Confirm your restore point" window to start the System Restore
    • Then Click 'Yes' to the once started, System Restore cannot be interrupted. Do you want to continue? dialog box.
    • System Restore will now restore Windows 7 to the state that was recorded in the restore point.
    • Immediately after logging in to Windows 7 after the reboot, you should see a message that System Restore completed successfully
    • Click 'Close'
    • Restart the computer and check
