Purchased an open box Inspiron 15 from Best Buy last night and am trying to do a factory restore prior to setting it up. When I select F8 at startup and go through the recovery steps, I don't have the option to do a factory restore. The last option in the menu is command prompt. Dell tech suppot is telling me the recovery partiion must have been deleted (it doesn't show in my computer either). However, when I go to do a fresh install of Windows 7 with the included Windows 7 CD, it stil sees the recovery partition when it asks me where I want to install the new OS.
Is there any way to access to recovery partition if it doesn't show up as an option under F8?
Maybe this will help.

How to Do a System Image Recovery in Windows 7
System image recovery only seems to work if you'd previously created one in Windows, which doesn't appear to the be the case with this laptop.
I also tried following the steps in restoriing your pc for factory condition but I can't get beyone the 5th part of Step 3. I don't have the option of "Dell Factory Image Restore". When I spoke with Dell Tech Support they told me it must mean that the partiion had been deleted, but it's still there as windows recognizes it when I go to do a clean install of Windows 7.
I'm looking to see if there is some other way to access the recovery partition other than the method outined in the bulliten
If the recovery partition is removed, changed or has become corrupt, then you need to reinstall the operating system using the factory disks.
