I've got a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop with a 160GB hard drive, 2GB RAM and running Microsoft XP SP3. I'm satisfied with it, but I'd like to upgrade my OS because I'm getting a bit sick of XP. The only reason I'm going through with the upgrade is the £30 price I can get windows 7 for.
I've done some research on the subject and I've found that it works fine for some people, but not everyone. I ran the W7 upgrade advisor and it says my laptop is capable of running W7. I looked at the dell drivers for the 6400 for W7, but there are none. There are only drivers for vista 32 bit - is that good if all my drivers are for vista and I'm running the W7 OS?
My main question here is, can I upgrade my laptop to windows 7 with no serious issues?
W7 should have all the drivers for that model, I don't see any reason not to upgrade.
Once W7 is installed check device manager to see if any drivers are missing, I doubt there will be any.
