I switched firewalls this morning from the Outpost Security Suite to Online Armor because the former seemed to take a long time to load, and then today it seemed to start up OK, but after a short time the icon in the tray simply disappeared. The program apparently was working but the icon was nowhere to be found even when I went looking for it in the customize tab in the notification area.
This has happened two or three times now at irregular intervals. I simply press on the "Look Online for a Solution" button and the problem seems to be solved. When I look for this service under the Administrative Tools page it shows that start up is Automatic and the service is Started. That's what it shows now. If I get the message again I will check its status then.
The computer seems to work fine. XPS-420 with Vista Home Premium SP2. Is it possible Online Armor might be causing this. My memory is fuzzy as to wether I got this message before the firewall switch. Thanks for any ideas.
The Vista Firewall in Vista protects better that XP used to. I really don't see a need to use a third party firewall.
I could not find much information on Online Armor. To chnage the settings CLICK HERE then scroll down to the article on Online Armor.
What virus program are you using?
What is a Dell Service Tag and how do I locate it?
Original poster, If you have solved your problem, can you please mark the correct thread(s) with your solution. Thanks

Forgot to mention I use Avast 6.0.1367 as my AV.
Avast should not be a problem. I use the FREE version and have no problems.
Start, control panel, network and sharing center, click on your connection, properties.
Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties for each. Have your settings match mine.
I can't find any set of screens that resemble the ones you have posted above. I get this error message a couple of times a day, which I knew what might be causing it, or else be able to get rid of the error messag.
Start, control panel, networking and sharing center. You'll see...
You'll then see...
Then you should see...
