I have a Power Edge 2900 that started crashing a few days back. Power cycling sometimes brings the machine back in service, but the time it remains in service varies.
Looking at the event viewer, I saw an error relating to a problem with the BBU for the PERC5i adapter. So I replaced it. No good--the machine still kept crashing. A little more digging showed another error message: E171F PCI E Fatal B0 D3 F0.
I don't think that is the adapter card itself. Am I correct? What Device 3 on Bus 0?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Can you power down the server and then remove the power cords and then drain the flea power by holding the power button down. After that reboot and the error should clear.
The Bus 0 Device 3 Function 0 is referring to the Integrated Perc controller.
Let me know how it goes.

Chris H responded but didn't really state how I should communicate back. I'll try the suggested method to clear the alarm. However, I'm thinking it is more than just clearing the alarm indication. The machine is still crashing. I am on the path to replace the PERC controller (5/I integrated) with the 6/I intergrated unit. Can you suggest on the replacement work?
Responding here in the forum is the best.
In the Hardware/ESM Logs, what events do you have? Just the PCIe Fatal error? What cards, besides the PERC 5, o you have installed? What is your BIOS version? ESM/BMC firmware? PERC firmware? Have you reseated the PERC?
I wouldn't jump to replacing the PERC just yet.
