Add SATA drives to Poweredge 830

This question is answered

Hi, I am trying to add two 1tb SATA drives to my PE 830 for some additional storage. I have them plugged into the motherboard and the SATA ports are enabled in the bios, but Server 2003 does not recognize them. They are currently jumpered to 150, but I am not sure if this is the right setting. Also, they are powered and spinning when the computer is turned on.

In addition, I have a PERC 4e/DC SCSI RAID card with two drives in RAID 1.

Is this a driver issue? Is it a conflict with the SCSI controller?

Thanks for any help.

  • just to be sure, did you also enable the sata controller in the Intergrated Devices section of the bios? Its a sub page.
