Optiplex 790 doesn't recognized my old W3000 as high definition

This question is not answered

Just hooked up my old Dell W3000 LCD TV to an Optiplex 790 w/ AMD 6450 video and it doesn't recognize the W3000 as high definition...so the resolution max's out at 1280 x768

Can anyone help?

Thanx

  • Hi Cashless,

    Optiplex 790 has four variants:

    • Mini-Tower (MT)
    • Desktop (DT)
    • Small Form Factor (SFF)
    • Ultra Small Form Factor (USFF)

Please let me know the exact form factor and the Operating system on your computer.

Please let me the port to which the TV is connected and the cables used to set up the TV.

You can also uninstall and re-install the video drivers by following the steps below from the link: http://dell.to/RuHmhK

    • Click on “Start” and right click on “Computer”.
    • Click on “Manage”.
    • Click on “Device Manager”.
    • Under “Display adapters”, you will find the video driver listed.
    • Right click on it and click on “uninstall”. (Check and make a note of the driver installed on your system and re-install the driver from the below steps accordingly).
    • Check the box to delete the software.
    • Restart your system and click on the link: http://dell.to/ZWU4KN
    • Click on “Download File”.
    • Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
    • Click on “Download Now”.
    • Save the driver on your desktop.
    • Once the driver is saved on desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
    • Install the video driver by following the on screen instructions.
    • Check if the issue is resolved or not. If the issue still persists, update the system BIOS.

Another step you can try is to change the resolution for the second display connected to the computer following the steps below:

Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution. Change the screen resolution of the TV and see if it works.
