Hello Dell community/forum
I recently sold my U2711 and bought two U2713H. I did this because U2711 was not available anymore. My first two monitors had a few problems and I exchanged them within two days to get new monitors, it has since then gone one month until a few days ago when I finally received my two new monitors, REV02. My problem with these, as with the first ones, is the ghosting that is noticeable even when doing normal things like scrolling in a forum or anything for that matter that is especially gray/white. To demonstrate my problem I recorded me scrolling on the Dell forums and uploaded it to Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db8pLE333a4
In this video, you can see blue and green artifacts. I am sorry for the bad quality, I recorded it with my phone.
I'm running these monitors through the supplied DVI-D cables connected to one GTX 780 on a X79-system with 3960X. The first monitors were running on two Radeon HD5970's on a 2600k and had the same problem.
My question is, am I supposed to accept this for monitors that cost 5500SEK (~$830) each? Honestly, I can't see why I should accept this. It is criminal of you not to tell your costumers what you're enforcing on them. At the least, you should make people aware of what they are actually buying. Now, have you acknowledged the problem and are you working on a fix or should I return them?
this is known issue on U2713H, U3014 and also U2413. It can be solved with redesigning user controls with enabling RTC control.
Sadly until now Dell refuses to accept this as a problem, and they said that there will not be firmware updates that will address this issue.
On the other hand, there are other monitor with same panel like Asus PA249Q( rtc is disabled ) or LG EA83D( OSD has RTC control) so i am sure that the market will make them to change their mind, because it is really unacceptable to pay for monitor more than 1000 euros ( U3014) and have this sort of problem.
It really makes me wonder how did they have courage to sell this poorly tested monitor in the first place?
I have researched the PA279Q (IPS) and it seems like it's the equivalent of Dell's U2713H with forced RTC/no overdrive control. The only model from ASUS that has overdrive control is the PB278Q (PLS) and it has mixed reviews. I don't know what to do at the moment, I just know that the U2713H isn't usable as it is. What other options are there? I know of the Eizo EV2736W and I'm thinking of selling/returning my Dell's and buying them instead.
U2711 is not available anymore but it is still way better than anything other right now.
2713H has a potential, but Dell must solve this issue or it will remain unusable like you said.
Maybe you can think of 2713HM as an alternative, it also has problems( bleeding and buzzing) but there is not ghosting.
For sure this is not the right time for purchasing new screen, best option is to wait for a descent model that will certainly come.
I had two U2711 prior to my new monitors but I gave them away (biggest mistake). Dell -HM is not an option because they have too many problems as it is at the moment. All other similar monitors are standard gamut but so is 2713H in game mode AND the preset mode disables everything so you have to live with over-saturated colors and I can't accept that. It's horrible. I want an honest question from a Dell representative, are you acknowledging the problem or should look at other brands?
I agree but remenber:
Asus = no software for hardware calibration
LG = software for hardware calibration not working properly with i1Display Pro or Colormuki Display
