I have a Dell 30" monitor 3007WFP and I am trying to run it on a precision 4600 laptop with an Nvidia 2000M video card. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I can only get 1280 x 800 resolution and it should easily do 2560 x 1600 or 1920 x 1080. I have used this monitor on several other computers and it usually works just fine. I have even purchased an HDMI to Dual link dvi adapter and I still have the same result. If I connect a 22 inch monitor to the laptop the system allows 1920 x 1080 res.
1. Will this monitor work with Windows 7 64 bit? Why not?
2. Is there a patch driver that will allow it to work?
3. What is it going to cost me to make this work?
4. Does Dell have any 30" monitors that will work with Precision 4600 laptop with an Nvidia 2000M video card?
Hi sjtslm,
I see that you have Precision M4600 which is connected to the Dell 3007WFP Flat Panel Monitor for external display. The Precision M4600 has the NVIDIA Quadro 2000M graphics card. Both the graphics card and monitor support 2560x1600 resolutions, therefore both the combinations with 2560x1600 resolutions should work.
So what I’d suggest to resolve the issue is to please update the NVIDIA Quadro 2000M graphics card drivers.

Please let me know if this helps.

Ravi,
I have loaded the very latest driver fron Nvidia.
The Video Driver from Nvidia was just updated in June 13 2012.
I loaded Version 296.88
It is for Windows 7, 64 bit.
The driver loads with no errors.
It does not allow anything past 1280 x 800 in the pc selections for the 30" 3007 WFP monitor.
It does have an HD 1080 selection but the monitor "black screens" my 30" 3007 WFP monitor.
I purchased a special HDMI to DVI dual Link adapter to try and the video comes through it bit it is only 1280 x 800 res.
My service tag is <removed private data> and I purchased the monitor from Dell as a brand new monitor.
This laptop Precision 4600 Laptop / video board Nvidia Quadro 2000M should work with this monitor. I think it is going to take a software programmer that knows about this monitor and windows 7 to write a patch / program that will let the system use 2560 x 1600 resolution. I don't think this monitor was ever included in the windows 7 program.
From what I have read I am not the only one with this problem.
Please, I have spent a lot of money to buy this monitor... I paid for it out of my own pocket to use at work to run CAD programs and I really need for it to work at the high resolution. It is why I bought the monitor. It has worked just fine running XP and Vista.
I hope you can help me.
sjtslm,
Please provide us a link to the special HDMI to DVI dual Link adapter you purchased.

The connector appears to have a dual link dvi connector. It is a female connector and has 3 x 8 pins plus the flat horiz pin on one end and an HDMI connector on the other end. The video comes through just like the other video outputs but it is 1280 x 800 resolution. Using the custom output 1080 causes a blackscreen and nothing goes through.
Dell labels HDMI as a video mode, so the highest resolution it can achieve is 1920x1080 (1080p). If that is also true on the Dell laptop, it may be able to send 1920x1080 but the 3007WFP-HC can only do 1280x800 or 2560x1600. Thus, it defaults to the lower resolution.
Is there an adapter that Dell provides for this?
Is there an adapter or device that Dell provides that will fix this problem???
In a previous answer you have said that the NVidia 2000M video in my Precision 4600 will support 2560 x 1600... Are you now saying that the 30" monitor will not work with the Precision 4600 system?
HELLO????
ANYBODY OUT THERE???
I just bought one of these monitors (used) and am reading up on it. Did you ever fix your problem? I am wondering if you have the IPS version or not.
Hope that it worked out.
I also found this from another post:
"The solution for me was to replace the DVI-D cable with a HP DisplayPort cable. I have no idea why the DVI-D cable (which looked far more expensive than the DisplayPort cable) didn't work, but with the new cable I was able to get 2560x1600 on both Debian Linux and Windows 7."
Could you describe the cable HP display port cable. I thought I tried everything. Is the cable your talking about have a display port on one side and a DVI-D on the other? The 3007 monitor I have is an older version with only 1 input which is a DVI-D. I tried an HDMI to DVI-D adapter and it didn't work. I was thinking the HDMI was the same as the display port but I guess it isn't. I was not aware this existed.
Hey SjtSlm,
I have a 3007wfp as well and in order to output max resolution, I had to purchase this - www.thegadgetguycolumn.com/accell-displayport-to-dvi-dual-link-adapter-review
I can confirm that this works and you will be able to get a max res of 2560 x 1650. You don't have to buy this exact model but just know that not all of these adapters can output 2560 x 1650. That's part of why it runs close to around $100 where as other lower res adapters are cheaper. I hope this helps.
On a side note, I recently got a new laptop that has a "mini" DisplayPort instead of just a DisplayPort. Like you, I tried running a Dual Link DVI to HDMI and kept getting a 1280 X 800 res on my monitor. At this point, I might have to bite the bullet and purchase the mini Displayport version of the adapter to get things to work. My laptop has an HDMI 1.4 output which technically means it should be able to go 2560 X 1650 but I have yet to hear of someone successfully being able to do this. If anyone knows whether outputting max res is possible to a 3007WFP via HDMI, please let me know :)
