  • can anybody help me with this? i urgently need to send faxes

  • Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer. Restart your computer.

    Download the proper drivers.

    XP Drivers

    Vista 32-bit Drivers

    All other drivers

Install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect your printer.

Install the latest firmware for the 962 printer

    Scanning

Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.

Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

What is a Dell Service Tag and how do I locate it?

  • Thanx but after doing everything you said, it still has the same error code 2200.  When faxing or scanning it seems to continue rebooting, after  a while it says error 2200 and then refuses any other command even shutting down is impossible. I need to disconnect the electricity to shut it down

  • Unplug the printer. Remove the power brick for 60 seconds. Now plug it back in. This should reset the error messages.

    Does it still happen?

The try going here and see if you can fix it.

  • we did cut off electricity but the problem still exists.  the error message disappeared but the lamp which is supposed to go down the page seems to be stuck on the wrong side.  With the lid opened it stays at the left and does not run down the window which is on the right.  It now makes blank copies, doesn't fax and doesn't scan.  i feel it is a hardware problem i'll try calling Dell tomorrow unless you have another idea.  in any case thanks a lot.

  • AIO 962, Windows XP home. I am also unable to print/fax/scan and get the error 2200 message.  My light bar will only move to the left, going further under the platen, three times, then the error 2200 message appears. I tried all your steps, twice, unsuccessful.  I uninstalled directly rather than from your plugin, and loaded Dell AIO driver from my disc, still error 2200. I also then keep getting the New Hardware Wizard : "cannot install hardware; click Finish to close".  I keep clicking the Finish button but the Wizard keeps reappearing no matter how many times I click finish.  I am beyond warranty. I placed the order for new discs.

Concidence that the 2200 error message is happening to several computers at the same time?

  • did you get anywhere? I have the same trouble. I got an e-mail from Dell today suggesting I buy a new printer, rather than repair my 4-year-old one. I tried all the "fixes" until 2am and got nowhere but tired!

  • same answer here, finished by buying new one (968 model) 86EUR instead of 120 for the repair..... feel ripped off

  • Overview

The 2200 error message indicates a scanner stall or jam.  The steps below will help you to resolve the issue and clear the error message.

    Printer Reset

1 Power off the All-In-One (AIO) and remove the power supply from the back of the unit.  Wait 30 seconds.  Then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on.

    Did the error message return?

    Yes: Continue to step 2.

No: Attempt a test scan.  If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

2 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit.  Open the scanner cover. Check the scanner glass for cracks and the scanner casing for cracks.  Close the scanner lid. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Remove both cartridges, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.

    Did the error message return?

    Yes: contact Dell.
    No: Continue to step 3.

3 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit.  Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.  Insert the color cartridge, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power on the AIO.

    Did the error message return?

Yes: Repeat step 3 with another color cartridge.  If the printer fails again, continue to step 4.

No: Repeat step 3 and install the black/photo cartridge.  If both cartridges are installed, attempt a test scan.  If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

4 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit.  Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Remove the color cartridge and insert the black/photo cartridge. Then close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.

    Did the error message return?

Yes: Repeat step 4 with another black/photo cartridge.  If the printer fails again, contact Dell.

No: Install the color cartridge.  If the printer fails, contact Dell. If the error message does not appear with both cartridges installed, attempt a test scan.  If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

  • I hope you were able to obtain a solution.  My 962 read this error code and it was as simple as my forgetting to lower the printed paper holder (or whatever it is called).  The printer has lived passed what I assumed would be it's lifecycle.  Keeps going!  Good luck.  Ron
