I have a Dell Dimension 8300 Desktop that I would like to make wireless. I get my Internet conenction via a cable modem from Comcast.
Do I need a router and an adaptor? Or just a router? Which router do you recommend?
Should I buy my own modem so that I don't have to rent one from Comcast anymore?
Here are the specs on my machine:

You need wireless router (to attach to cable modem) and you will nedd a PCI (internal) or USB (external) wireless card.
I would suggest getting them from the same manufacturer.
I would get "g" protocol even if you do not need higher transfer rate for now.
I would be glad to give you a hand, however, I would need to know a few things first...
1) What is the goal of you Network? Just Make the Data Source Wireless for the your laptop to use, or would you like to connect more than one computer to the network?
2) Does your Data Source have an ethernet port, usb port or both?
3) Do you plan to expand this network in the future?
4) Do you want any type of security involved?
If these assumptions are true, then let me know, and I would be happy to help.
