New Dell inspiron N7110 WI-FI cannot connect to internet

This question is not answered

I just pulled this thing out of the box fired it up and tried to connect to the internet with my WIFI.

It shows up on the bottme of the screen tells me I have an excellent connection and No Internet access. I took down all the firewalls thinking that was the problem but nothing. I've been at it for a while now and still nothing, the worst part is i really do not know what i'm doing. I know the router works, I use it for my nook all the time with no problems.

  • yes more then once.

  • Try these steps

    1) Disconnect all the devices from the router, turn off router, turn off system, start router wait for 5mins then start system, check.

    2) If the above doesnt work start system in safe mode with networking (tap F8 the min system is turned on till you see options)

  • still nothing.

I did a network and internet troubleshooting and it told me

Problems found: The DNS server isn't responding

    can I fix this?

  • The DNS server is your ISP.  Any other device able to go online ?

  • I use my nook all the time without any problem. never have any trouble with the web on it.

  • Type services.msc in search (If WindowsXP go to RUN) , find 'DNS client' and restart that service.

  • gn2tx,

    Try...

Start, control panel, networking and sharing center, click on your network, then click on properties.

Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6, then click on properties on each. Make sure your settings match mine.

  • Thank you for the welcome.

I found TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and they match yours exactly.

  • gn2tx,

Download the Finding System Information Tool then extract it. Right click on the sysinfo.exe file left click run as administrator, and post the rest of the information back here.

  • gn2tx,

From looking at your system information, I see that you recently installed the operating system. Did you install the Notebook System Utility and the chispet drivers( Intel Huron River (HM67) ) first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the Notebook system utility and the chipset drivers and install from there.

The easier method is Restoring Your Computer´s Software to the Factory Settings

If you made the Windows 7 - IMPORTANT Windows 7 Backup Disks to create you could also use Restoring Your Dell Computer to Original Factory Installation with Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0
