Dell Inspiron 15 having trouble connecting to internet?

This question is answered

Hello there,

I've had a problem with my Dell Inspiron 15 connecting wirelessly to the internet for quite a while now. Just about every day, there's a period of time when I can't connect to the internet, no matter how many times I try to connect, and if I do connect, it only stays connected for a minute or so, and then I'm back to trying to connect over and over. I know that it's not my router or my modem, because none of the other computers or devices in my house have the same problem. I'm the only one having these connectivity issues. I reset my router and modem regularly, thinking it would help, but it doesn't. I've changed the channel on my router and that's done nothing, either.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Start, control panel, device manager, network, Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card, advanced. Look for Antenna Diversity. Change it from Auto to Aux.

  • Hello, sir. I am having problems similar to that of jkrawcke 224 and own a Dell Inspiron 15R. I was able to temporarily solve my connection problem using a Belkin wireless adapter and would now like to solve it for good, now seeing it is possible. The steps you listed for jkrawcke 224 contain some commands I was not able to find on my computer so here is my system info:

  • dellcommunityuser,

The Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030 is what you have. Try...

    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Create a Power Plan

    Select High performance.

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
