I am doing a fresh install of Win XP Pro on my boss' computer. I have the same model at my home and had no trouble locating the driver for my home machine. I have downloaded and installed both the Broadcom and Intel 10/100 drivers...I get a message stating that these drivers do not contain information about my hardware. The only network this machine has is the onboard NIC, no other network cards are installed. Unfortunately I am coming into the install late because he started the install himself. Could the order in which the drivers were installed have anything to do with this? And also to note, I have updated both the BIOS and the Chipset driver.
Many of the onboard devices will not be recoginzed before the chipset driver is installed.
Not all 8300's use INTEL NIC, Some Have 3com 3c905 chipset based nic.
This is the INTEL NIC
