I would like to say Thank You Very Much, after a 2 day struggle with my network you had the fix. So glad I found this
Man, what a lot of time I've spent on this...
This popup started occurring soon after the arrival of my brand new Inspiron One 2310 and I tried everything. Didn't help that my Service Tag still isn't recognised by Dell online!
Tried setting COM+ to automatically start up as above... no joy - still getting the 'notification dll is not registered...' message soon after start up.
Got through to Gizmo help and, after a couple of false starts over a few weeks, and despite the fact that this is clearly a Dell proprietary software problem, finally cracked it with disabling a service called 'DW WLAN Tray Service' through MSCONFIG. This Dell Wireless tray service is set to automatically start up and, as I understand it, provide Peer Net Connection if you want to use your computer as your home's WiFi or just connect a device wirelessly direct to your computer. I can't see a need for it (at the moment) in my place.
So, give that a try or, if you're not big on actually disabling services, just try resetting that tray service to 'Manual' and 'Stopped' through SERVICES. Doesn't seem to impact on the computer's ability to connect to my Wifi. Bottom line - everything still works and WITHOUT THAT ANNOYING POPUP!!
For those that still want to use that service for Peer Net Connection, I dunno what to tell you.
