I want to be able to access files on the desktop using my laptop, and vice versa.
I have a Sagem, Sky wireless router that connects the laptop wirelessly to the internet. Desktop to router is via ethernet cable.
Would using an ethernet crossover cable be the best, easiest way to do this?
Advice would be much appreciated.

You could install Windows Live Mesh on both and sync your selected folders computer to computer. You may also use it to create remote connections.

Thanks for that natakuc4.
I spend four months out of the UK (my home) every year; using the laptop overseas.
When I get back I want to be able to acess files from each computer to the other and also sync my Microsoft Money files.
Putting all my stuff on the cloud makes me nervous, or am I a Luddite?
Is there no way of using my Sky wireless router to do the job.
Thanks again,
Zeferina.
I have used the services for 2 or so years and it has always been fine.
There may be a way with your router but to be honest I'm not sure what the best solution is.
I will move this to the networking, internet and wireless forum for more expert advice.
