  • Hi shiny,

    Welcome to the Community,

If the the wifi is not getting enabled  and Wifi LED is off, I would suggest you to check if the wireless card is getting detected in device manager and also check if the drivers is installed.

To check if the wireless card is getting detected follow the steps below:

    Click Start.

    Right-Click Computer.

    Click Properties.

Click Device Manager in the upper left-hand corner.

    Click Network Adapters

Check if wireless card is listed.

If its not listed check if you see Other devices,Network Controller. If you see network controller you would need to install the driver for the wireless card from www.support.dell.com,using the service tag or system model.

Let me know if you need more information.

    Hope this helps,

    Thank You

    Roshan.

  • Hi aruna1,

    Welcome to the Community,

I suggest you to first check if the Wifi on the system is turned on or off. There are four LEDs on the left hand side towards the front of the system. The fourth LED ( one with symbol of antenna), is WiFi/bluetooth status light.

Use the Fn + F2 key to turn wireless On or Off. Use Windows Mobility Center in the control panel to check the status of the wireless connection.

Once you make sure the Wifi is turned on,you can access Control Panel,Network and Sharing Center,Connect to a network, you should get a list of wireless networks which you can connect to.

    Hope this helps,

    Thank You

    Roshan.

  • It shows NOT CONNECTED in wireless tab in windows mobility center..

    thanks for the reply..

  • Did you check the LED in the front?

Dell | Social Media Outreach | Global Social Media & Community

  • Yup..its on

  • Hi,

So the LED confirms your WIFI is turned on. If there are wireless networks around your system, you can click on the network icon on the right hand bottom of the screen and it should show you the list of wireless networks available.

Click on the wireless network you are trying to connect to and if it requires a security key you should enter it  to be able to connect it successfully.

    Thank You

    Roshan.

Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

If you can run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and post the rest of the information back here, maybe it will give us a clue.

    thank u

  • @pudgyone thanks for the reply

  • aruna1,

Is ths a new system or did you recently reinstall the operating system?

Did you look at these places to see if the Connection is enabled?

Start, control panel, network, look fr the Dell Wireless 1702 802.11b/g/n and double click on it. Does this adapter have antenna diversity? Some adapters have it and some don't

Any yellow exclaimination marks or red x's in the device manager?

Start, contgrol panel, network and sharing center, manage network connections. Click on the wireless connection, then right click on it, left click properties. Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties. Have your settings match mine.
