Very odd issue - I've used my home wireless connectivity for some years for my Dell Latitude 630 via my 4 port Dynalink wireless router. Suddenly for no apparent reason I cannot browse, connect to my ISP mail server, or even log into to my router via the wireless connection. This despite the fact that my wireless network connection status is indicating my wireless connectivity is working well. Go figure.
If I connect via ethernet cable into the same router, no problems. Everytime I disconnect this and try to start using the wireless connection - no go joe.The fact that I can connect thru one and not the other would tend to suggest to me it is not a firewall problem - I have turned windows firewall off and on to prove this. The forums I've read say that router and wireless card firmware can be an issue - but it's worked perfectly up until now, so why should this suddenly be an issue? Should I be installing a firmware upgrade on either or both of these? (Could this cause more issues than it solves?)
I installed AVG 2011 security two days ago which caused a whole lot of problems as far as slowing and freezing my computer - however I've uninstalled this software and done a systems restore to the day before the install, and still the issue remains the same.
HELP! Any suggestions?
voskie,
System Restore to before you installed AVG Free.

This is a Dell User Forum. I am a Dell user, just like you are.
Don't know what you mean by "system restore top....."
I have same problem with my Dell laptop. wifi worked fine until one day it started working intermitently. Some days it works, some days it doesn't, Tried to disable AFG but my version has no way to disable it unless I unload it.
Search for AFG issues - some people are suggesting the latest upgrade from version 9 to 2011 is causing some issues. I have version 9 running fine on a desktop - will have to think carefully about an eventual upgrade, given the bad press some people are giving it.
I would read...

all sorted - Turns out there was an IP conflict on my network. So wouldn't appear to be a Malware issue afterall, but thanks for the assistance.
Glad you got it working! Thanks for posting back.
Take care,
