Since resetting my Inspiron 1545 laptop back to factory settings I keep getting this message on startup: "Dell Wireless WLAN Wireless Network Tray Applet has stopped working". I have tried to get rid of this by trying the following advice I found on the internet:
Right click ComputerManage Services Scroll down to Dell Wireless WLAN Right click Properties Disable the serviceReboot
but the message still appears on startup. On checking the service shows up as disabled.
The computer isn't used wireless so a wireless connection isn't vital.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can stop this message appearing?
Graham
Hi Graham
I would suggest re-installation of the Dell Wireless application, but since you dont use the wireless application you can follow these steps to remove it from the startup.
Hope that takes care of the problem :)

Thanks - I'll try that.
I'm not really an expert and would appreciate any help or advice you might be able to give me about uninstalling and re-installing the Dell wireless application.
Not a problem graham
This community is all about help and support. You just need to ask and you shall get :)
Try that out, if it does not work, ill help you reinstall the application.
Btw which antivirus are you using ?
Thanks. Unchecking it on the startup list did the trick.
The antivirus I'm using is Avast free version.
dolan46,
Avast has an update, last week that disable some of the Dell wireless cards. If you're still connected to the internet with the ethernet cable, then double click on the orange avast icon.
Click on maintenance, update
click on the update program
restart your computer when prompted and everything should be back to normal

This is a Dell User Forum. I am a Dell user, just like you are.
Dolan is right,
Avast has incompatibility issue with Dell support center.
Update your avast, it should work fine :)
